New In the Store...

Actually the store is brand new, too! It's called CapricornOneEphemera and it will have all kinds of vintage ephemera from 1880-1990. I'm in the process of stocking this shop, so please check in from time to time and see what's been added.
Anyway, I just listed some awesome 1940s magazines. These are full of cool vintage ads and also lots of hairstyles with instructions. Fascinating reading & diy!

Lil' Softy

So I got off my butt and went thrift shopping this weekend.....oh thrifts how I missed you! I managed to find some cool items to buy, one of which is right here, a 1970s Lil' Softy advertising doll still in her package. She is currently for sale in my Etsy store.

For those of you who are not familliar with Lil' Softy's magic, or just need a refresher course, here is a youtube video I found. I totally remembered this from my childhood (yes, I'm old...shut up!), but I guess I must have blocked out her creepy Carol Channing like voice. (Feel free to ignore the Dairy Queen commercial that comes after, though it's sort of interesting to watch in it's own weird way.)

What's Up?

Happy egg hunting, candy scarfing and cake eating day! Hope you are all having a nice spring as well. Springtime means sales, and currently there is an awesome one going on! Be sure to check out the VMTEAM + VETT= Spring Fling promo. Two of my favorite teams on etsy (and yes, i may be partial since i'm a member of both) are working in tandem to bring you some great deals on vintage. Just go to etsy and type 'vtgspring' into the search bar and see what you can't live without (Don't take too long, tho. The sale ends on May 2nd) ♥

PS: There are new scans on flickr and now CapricornOneVintage has a tumblr account too!

Happy 2011...!!!

Hmmmm...well, I'm only 10 days late with that greeting and that's better than I have been in quite some time!
I'm back and I hope to stay healthy enough to hang around for awhile. My crohn's disease was so bad last fall that I ended up having 'suprise!' surgery. I came out of it minus a just over a foot of intestines and my appendix.
Now i feel pretty great! And the best part is, no more hella expensive self-injectable (yikes) meds that don't work (and give me arthritis and make me tired/cranky). I'm just on a maintenence dose of Imuran, and I'll cross my fingers that I stay out of the hospital and away from another surgery for a long long time!
Now I am looking and seeing where I'm completely behind on things, and I'm starting to work on fixing it.
I'm hoping that by the end of the month I will have made some headway. I'll get back to listing in my Etsy and Artfire shops, and then I'll be working on my website.
So, anyways, Happy New Year!! Hope It's a good one for you and yours. :)

Happy shopping...♥

Item of the week

Forgive my absence. I've been trying to recoup from this last Crohn's bout. It's been slow going around here, I just don't have any energy. (I partially blame Mars retrograde.) This flare isn't really settling down the way I'd like it to. Just got off another round of Prednisone and I'm waiting for the Imuran to take effect. Crossing fingers it does, I really do not want to go back on biologics.

Okay, enough of that! On to the item of the week.
Sweet little 1930s filigree & clear crystal necklace.
Perfect for a wedding, prom or just because you feel like it!
